	The Wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, has urged nursing mothers to exclusively breastfeed their babies for the first six months of life.					Hajiya Lami made the call during the commemoration of the twenty-twenty six World Breastfeeding Week held at Nana Asma’u primary health care in Yola, organized by state ministry of Health and other partners including Helen Keller International.
	She explained that breastfeeding protects children from various diseases, promotes healthy growth and development, and strengthens the bond between a mother and her child.
	The Governor’s wife also noted that breastfeeding offers health benefits to mothers, including reducing the risk of certain cancers and other health complications.
	She therefore reiterated the commitment of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration to reducing maternal and infant mortality. 
	Lami Fintiri, encouraged nursing mothers to maintain a balanced and nutritious diet to support adequate breast milk production and promote the healthy development of their babies.
	The First Lady commended Helen Keller International, UNICEF, WHO, and other development partners for their efforts and support towards the successful conduct of the event.
	Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Doctor Mohammed Chubado Jada, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Pharmacist Zirra Bubanani, urged mothers to provide their children with nutritious and balanced meals to ensure healthy growth and development.

	In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency wished participants a successful and impactful celebration.
	Goodwill messages were delivered by representatives of partner organisations, who reaffirmed their commitment to supporting breastfeeding and maternal and child health programmes in Adamawa State.
